Oil-Well

On Thursday, April 10 the Rio Hondo Group of the Sierra Club will host Geologist Dr. Tom Williams, who will speak about “Extreme Stiumulation, Acidizing, Completion and Drilling” of oil and gas wells in North Orange County. Already a controversial method of freeing stubborn oil and gas deposits in deep rock formations, hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking” has also been linked to earthquakes in Oklahoma and other places around the country.

The recent spate of earthquakes centered in La Habra have many in Orange County asking whether the fracking of nearby wells is somehow connected to this seismic activity. No fewer than 30 wastewater injection wells are located within 10 miles of the La Habra quake epicenter.
