Mayor Doug Chaffee picks up the tradition of mayoral monthly meetings with the Fullerton community Tuesday night, February 25 at the Fullerton Community Center, 340 W. Commonwealth Ave. The program officially begins at 6:30 and ends at 7:30, but previous such town-hall style discussions with other mayors have stretched to 8:00 pm or later.

The City’s official press release invites “citizens (to) discuss any issues, ideas or concerns they may have about the city. (We imagine that Mayor Chaffee would not discriminate against non-citizens who might also want to participate.) No reservations or appointments are necessary.

In the recent past similar events with then-Mayor Bruce Whitaker engendered insightful and productive discussions by area residents of diverse backgrounds and ideological orientations. The Rag suggests asking Mayor Chaffee about any number of ongoing city issues and practices, including high density housing developments, the Hillcrest Park Master Plan, community based civilian oversight of the Fullerton Police Department, the College Town plan to close Nutwood Ave., and the status of plans to re-open the Hunt Branch Library.

The series is planned to continue on the fourth Tuesday of each month in different locations throughout the city. For more info call (714) 738-6311.
